Terms & Conditions

Oathbound Post — Version 1.1 — Last updated: 25 May 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Oathbound Post, the browser-based multiplayer game available at oathbound-post.com ("the Game"), operated by the Oathbound Post team ("we", "us", "our").

By ticking the acceptance checkbox at registration, you confirm you have read and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.

1. Accounts

You may register using an email address and password, or via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You may not share, sell, transfer, or otherwise convey your account to another person. Accounts are personal and non-transferable. You may not create accounts on behalf of others without permission.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that contain false information or that violate these Terms.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to [email protected] before disclosing it publicly. We will not take enforcement action against users who report vulnerabilities in good faith.

3. Game Content & Changes

We may update, modify, or remove game content, features, mechanics, or player data at any time. This includes resets, balance changes, and wipes. We will endeavour to communicate significant changes in advance, but are not obligated to do so.

4. Moderation & Enforcement

We may suspend or permanently ban accounts at our discretion for violations of these Terms or behaviour we determine to be harmful to the Game or its community. We are not obligated to provide detailed reasons for enforcement actions. If your account is suspended or banned, you may contact us at [email protected] to request a review. We are not obligated to reverse enforcement decisions, but we will acknowledge your request.

5. No Warranty

The Game is provided "as is" and is a free service — no payment or consideration is required to play. We make no warranty of availability, fitness for purpose, or error-free operation. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Game may go offline for maintenance or permanently at any time.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Game, including loss of in-game progress or data. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

7. Intellectual Property

All game content — including artwork, writing, code, and design — is owned by the Oathbound Post team. You may not reproduce or distribute any part of the Game for commercial purposes without written permission.

Any content you create within the Game (including usernames, character names, and in-game choices) is licensed to us on a royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide basis for the purpose of operating and improving the Game. You retain ownership of any original creative works you contribute, but grant us the right to store, display, and use that content as part of the Game.

We welcome fan creativity. Non-commercial fan art, fan fiction, and community tools that do not reproduce the Game's code are permitted without separate written permission, provided they are clearly identified as unofficial.

8. Third-Party Services

The Game integrates with Google (for sign-in) and optionally Discord (for account linking). Use of those services is governed by their respective terms of service.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes via in-game patch notes or the website before they take effect. Continued use of the Game after that notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you may close your account before the changes take effect by contacting us at [email protected].

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
